Intro
Love mangoes? Who doesn’t! Today, I’m going to show you how to grow your very own mango tree, right from the seed. It’s easier than you think, so let’s get started!
Seed Prep
First, enjoy a ripe mango! Then, gently remove the seed and clean off any remaining pulp. Next, carefully crack open the husk to reveal the bean-like seed inside. This is what we’ll be planting.
Sprouting
Wrap the seed in a damp paper towel. Place it in a container or a plastic bag. Store it in a warm, dark place. In about one to two weeks, you should see it sprout!
Planting
Once your seed has sprouted, it’s time to plant it! Use a pot with rich, well-draining soil. Make sure the sprout is sticking up above the soil when you plant it.
Growing
Keep the soil moist, but not soggy. Place your potted mango seed in a sunny spot. Mango trees love warmth and sunshine! If you live in a warm climate, you can eventually transfer it outdoors. With a little care and patience, you might see fruit in three to six years!
